Chipolopolo Zambia coach Aljosa Asanovic believes Rangers striker Fashion Sakala has the potential to play south of the border and follow Leicester City striker Patson Daka and Brighton midfielder Enock Mwepu in the English Premiership.

Fashion put up a notable display in Sunday’s Old Firm Derby when he scored a 61nd minute equalizer for second placed Rangers in their 1-1 away draw against league leaders Celtic.

It was Fashion’s debut Glasgow Derby goal since joining the Scottish champions from Belgian club KV Oostende last Summer and the 25-year-old has so far scored 8 league goals since his arrival.

“Daka is doing really well at Leicester, and I don’t see any reason why Fashion can’t do the same,” Asanovic told The Scottish Sun.

“He’s still young and he’s still learning about British football.

“But in terms of having the talent and attitude to make another step up in his career? Absolutely, he can do that.

“That will be his target — and so it should be. He’s played in Russia and Belgium and he’s developing his football at a good level.

“He’ll want to continue that, but in the meantime, he can stay at a big club like Rangers and learn.

“Because of the love the Zambian people have for football, there are big expectations on players like Daka and Sakala — but he can certainly handle that.”

Meanwhile, Fashion is on Asanovic’s plans for next month’s 2023 AFCON Group H qualifiers against Cote d’Ivoire away on June 4 in Abidjan and Comoros at home on June 11 in Lusaka.
