Shepolopolo Zambia coach Bruce Mwape senses Cameroon are coming for revenge in their opening Group B match at 2022 Women’s AFCON in Morocco.

Zambia and Cameroon are set for a grudge match showdown at the WAFCON that Morocco is hosting from July 2-23.

Shepolopolo beat Cameroon to Africa’s automatic ticket to the 2020 Olympics when they overturned a 3-2 away loss to win 2-1 at home to qualify for the Tokyo Games on away goals rule.

“They would want to avenge it because they failed to go to the Olympics,” Mwape said.

“I am sure up to now they are not themselves and they still feel that they are better than us.

“But we are better than them because we beat them to go to the Olympics.

“This time around they will make sure they will prepare well and call all their professionals.

“But we will also make sure that we prepare for them and that we have in camp all our experienced players and those that are doing well for their respective clubs.

“We will prepare for them and play them like we are playing the final game.”

Cameroon and Zambia meet in their opening Group B fixture on July 3 in Casablanca.

Shepolopolo will later face Tunisia and Togo on July 6 and July 9 respectively in their final two Group B fixtures.

The two top finishers and two best third placed sides from the 12-team, three group tournament will advance to the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Shepolopolo kicked off preliminary WAFCON preparations over the weekend with two friendly games at home against fellow tournament finalist Botswana in Lusaka.

Zambia beat Botswana 1-0 on April 29 at Woodlands Stadium and later drew 1-1 on May 2 at Nkoloma Stadium.
