Red Arrows have restored their eight-point lead at the summit of the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League table following Saturdays 1-0 away victory over struggling Kafue Celtic at Edwin Emboela Stadium in Lusaka.
Arrows’ win lifts the Lusaka club to 63 points with three games left to play.
However, defending champions Zesco United who are second could restore the five-point gap in Sunday’s away date against fifth placed Power Dynamos in Kitwe.
Striker Ricky Banda stayed in strong contention for the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League Golden Boot after scoring Arrows’ goal in the 15th minute.
Banda goes level on 14 goals with ex-Green Buffaloes striker Friday Samu who left in January to join PSL club Maritzburg United.
Meanwhile, Green Eagles maintain third spot following a 2-0 home win over relegation battling Konkola Blades in Choma.
Eagles are tied on 55 points with second placed Zesco who have a better goal difference.
Goals by Emmanuel Mukosha in the 19th minute and Amity Shamende a minute before halftime kept Eagles top two hopes alive.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s result sent Blades one place down to bottom of the table on 28 points, one point less than Celtic who just above them at number 17.
The two sides’ drop into the bottom two was aided by Lusaka Dynamos leap over them who jumped two places to 16th following a 2-0 home win over 15th placed Indeni.
Dynamos took home the three points thanks to goals by Fanwell Mapulanga in the 39th minute and Lemisa Moussa in the 55th minute.
