Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala’s first European start in six months didn’t go according to plan on Thursday when his club Rangers lost away in Portugal.

The Scottish champions went down 1-0 away to Sporting Braga in their UEFA Europa League quarterfinal first leg match.

It was Fashion’s first starting XI spot in continental action for Rangers since November 4 during their 1-1 away draw against Danish side Brondby.

Fashion was given a start by coach Giovanni Van Bronckhorst after Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos season came to an end this week following surgery for a thigh injury he sustained on international duty in March.

But Fashion went on to have a modest match with a couple of chances that earned him a shocking rating from Ibrox News.

The Chipolopolo striker was later substituted in the 62nd minute and replaced by Jamaican Kevin Roofe.

Thursday’s game was Rangers’ second successive competitive defeat after losing 2-1 at home to league leaders Celtic in Sunday’s Old Firm derby.

Meanwhile, Rangers host Braga in their must-win final leg fixture on April 14.
