Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe says they are going to have to stay very calm as the prospect of a league and cup double looks like a strong possibility this season after beating Green Eagles on Sunday to reach the 2022 ABSA Cup final.

The FAZ Super League leaders defeated Eagles 2-0 in the ABSA Cup semifinals played at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka to reach their first final since winning the competition in 2013.

Alassane Diarra put Arrows ahead in the 6th minute to score his second goal of the ABSA Cup while midfielder Edward Tembo scored the final goal in the 85th minute.

“At the beginning of the season, we set goals that we wanted to participate in the ABSA Cup and now we are in the finals,” Chisi said.

“We also planned that we wanted to win the league which is not yet over and we are leading by seven points.

“So the most important thing is to stay focused and continue working hard until the last game of the ABSA Cup and the league.”

In the league, Arrows have six games left to ensure they secure their second-ever league title and first since 2004.

Meanwhile, Arrows will face second tier side Napsa Stars in an all-Lusaka affair ABSA Cup final on April 16 across town at National Heroes Stadium.

Chisi said Arrows would respect Napsa who are currently making a strong case for promotion following their relegation from the FAZ Super League last season.

“Again it is not going to be an easy game looking at the way Napsa are performing. They have done a great job by qualifying to the final,” Chisi said.

“So the most important thing now is we are just one hurdle closer to the promised land so we don’t need to get carried away.

“We need to get back into training and prepare for the final.”
