Algerian star Adlene Guedioura has revealed why he has returned to England after joining Sheffield United.
The English Championship side announced the signing of the 35-year-old central midfielder on Monday as they look to fight for promotion to the Premier League.
Guedioura has joined the Blades from Qatar Stars League club Al-Gharafa Sports Club a one-year deal.
The experienced player played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Watford, and Middlesbrough in England in the past.
“I’m very pleased to have signed and I can’t wait to play for the team. It’s something special for me to come back to the UK, so I am really happy,” Guedioura told the club’s official website.
“I’d like to thank the manager and the club for allowing me to come to train and have the opportunity to show what I can do.
“I am really happy to end up with a contract now until the end of the season, so I am up for the challenge and ready to start.”
Guedioura has reunited with former manager Slavisa Jokanovic at Sheffield with the Serbian tactician having joined the club in May 2021.
The veteran midfield maestro worked with Jokanovic at Al-Gharafa between 2019 and 2021.
He won Goal of the Season for both Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2011/12 season.
