Buildcon FC assistant coach Boyd Mulwanda admits they are in a race against time as the Ndola side battles to cobble together pre-season training with a fortnight left before the start of the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League season.
The Ndola club is the only top-flight side yet to start pre-season training ahead of the September 11 league kickoff.
Buildcon’s pre-season woes have seen battling to plug a player exodus that has witnessed over 10 players leave the club.
They include midfielder Shadreck Musonda who has returned to Nkana, defender Isaac Shamujompa and midfielder Eric Owusu have both joined last season’s runners-up Zanaco.
“Will try and do what we can but looking at the time, we do not have much time but will try and see what we can do,” Mulwanda told The Zambia Daily Mail.
“The league is opening next month and if you check the other clubs have gone for or come back from their pre-season training camps. So they have pushed their players to the fitness levels where they are supposed to be.
“But with us, it will not be easy but we will try and see how we can push the team.”
Meanwhile, Buildcon will have to be in tip-top condition for their opening day league fixture with a tough away date at regular top five finishers Green Eagles.
Buildcon have not beaten Eagles in their last five meetings in which they have recorded two draws and three defeats.
Furthermore, Buildcon are without a victory away in Choma since they made their FAZ Super League debut in the 2017 season.
