Daka, Mwepu and Fashion make quiet friendly debuts

Chipolopolo’s three British exports finally got some friendly action on Saturday in debut non-competitive action during pre-season engagements at their respective clubs.

At Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, there was a Chipolopolo reunion in the friendly match involving Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers and their EPL guests Brighton Hove & Albion.

Midfielder Enock Mwepu made started for Brighton and was substituted at halftime in their 0-0 away draw with Rangers.

Mwepu’s compatriot and striker Fashion Sakala came on in the 62nd minute of the match.

Sakala was due back in action for Rangers by press time on Sunday evening in more pre-season action at the same venue against Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Mwepu is due back in pre-season action on July 31 when Brighton hosts’ English Championship club Luton Town before Spanish LaLiga club Getafe pay them a visit on August 7.

In England, striker Patson Daka played the first 45 minutes for his new club Leicester City in their 0-0 away draw against League One club Burton that the home team won post-match penalties.

Daka is due back in action on July 28 away to League One club Wycombe.
