Napsa Stars midfielder Dickson Chaba has described his loan transfer to defending FAZ Super League champions Zesco United as a dream move.
The25-year-old defensive midfielder has left the demoted FAZ Super League Lusaka-based side for the 2020/2021 champions and joins the Ndola club on a one-year deal.
Chapa is also Napsa’s first departure following their demotion at the end of the 2020/2021 season after ten years in the FAZ Super League.
“I was very excited when I heard that ZESCO United were interested in signing me. I was very happy because it shows that my efforts in the game are being appreciated especially when a team like ZESCO United comes calling,” Chapa told Zesco media.
“This is a very organized club with a rich history. I feel that they have seen something in me which they want to use to add value to the team.”
Chapa is Zesco’s second pre-season signing after the nine-time champions captured promising winger Edward Lungu from relegated Kitwe United on a permanent move earlier this month.
The midfielders’ arrival follows the departure of another loanee, Bruce Musakanya, this week after the winger returned to his Lusaka club, Red Arrows, at the end of a season-long stay.
Chapa will jump straight back into continental action with Zesco in next season’s CAF Champions League.
This is after he captained Napsa in their debut CAF Confederation Cup campaign last term when they qualified to the group stage on the very first attempt.
“This is a big challenge for me because ZESCO United is a big club, and demands are high here. This means that I have to double my efforts because I have joined a team that won the league and want to continue winning trophies,” Chapa said.
