Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala is expected to finally start training with his new club Glasgow Rangers in a couple of days ahead of the Scottish champions’ big pre-season date against Real Madrid.
The Zambia striker had been in ten -day mandatory quarantine since arriving in the UK a fortnight ago to begin a four-year contract with the Scottish champions following his summer move from KV Oostende in Belgium.
“He should be out in the next three days after finishing his mandatory ten-day quarantine period for arrivals in the UK,” a source familiar with the development told AF.
The position has seen Sakala miss Rangers’ first two pre-season friendlies starting on July 5 against Partick Thistle that they won 1-0 away and the 1-0 defeat at Tranmere on July 10.
But Sakala should be ready for Rangers sixth pre-season home date on July 25 against Real at Ibrox.
That match will come 24 hours after Sakala’s anticipated Zambia reunion with his Chipolopolo teammate and midfielder Enock Mwepu who will be in Glasgow with his new English Premiership club Brighton & Hove Albion for another pre-season date.
Mwepu also moved to the UK this summer together with Leicester City striker Patson Daka from Austrian champions RB Salzburg.
Meanwhile, Rangers have another two other pre-season friendlies against Arsenal on July 17 at home and Blackpool away on July 21.
