Shepolopolo Zambia coach Bruce Mwape has announced his final 21-member Tokyo Olympics team.
Mwape has kept faith in the core of the squad that sailed in a tough five-round qualifying phase where they suffered one draw and a loss to clinch Africa’s lone automatic spot.
Cameroon, who Zambia eliminated on the final hurdle, failed to join Chipolopolo via the Africa-Versus -South America playoff route against Chile.
Meanwhile, all three Shepolopolo big guns are in the team led by captain Barbara Banda and the mercurial Rachel Kundananji of BIIK Kazygurt in Kazakhstan.
CAF Olympic qualifiers top scorer on eight goals Grace Chanda is also heading to Japan.
Mwape has also added two new faces who include Shepolopolo U17 captain and defender Esther Siamfuko.
Midfielder Sudan Katongo who has scored nine goals in the inaugural FAZ Women’s Super League has also made the final cut.
Shepolopolo will be making their Olympic Games debut at the Women’s Football Tournament that will run from July 21 to August 6.
Zambia are in Group F and drawn against China, Brazil and Holland. Mwape’s side will kick off their Group F campaign on July 21 in Miyagi against the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup runners-up Holland.
