Chambishi FC secured promotion back in the FAZ Super League on June 26 after a thirteen-year absence on the final day of the 2020/2021 FAZ National Division One promotion race.
The Copperbelt club, who return for the first time since their demotion in 2009, beat fourteenth positioned Malaiti Rangers 1-0 at home in Chambishi courtesy of a second half penalty converted by Kelvin Chomba.
Chambishi clinched the final top four promotion berth joining Konkola Blades, Kafue Celtic and Kansanshi Dynamos in the elite league for the 2021/2022 season.
They finished tied on 57 points with nine-time Zambian champions Mufulira Wanderers whom they beat to the final fourth place promotion spot on goal difference.
Fifth placed Wanderers also won 1-0 at home on Saturday after beating National First Division One champions Blades at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira.
But there was heartbreak for ex-Chipolopolo midfielder Isaac Chansa’s City of Lusaka who finished sixth on 53 points in the former Orlando Pirates stars’ first managerial appointment.
City have been stuck in the second tier since 2010.
Meanwhile, Blades finished top on 69 points while Kafue Celtic who will be making their top-flight debut finished second on 65 points.
Kansanshi Dynamos finished third on 63 points and return to the FAZ Super League for a second time after making their debut in the 2019/2020 season.
